Mr. Fiore has a degree in Engineering and has also worked as a Navy Officer. He worked for more than 10 years as an Offshore Superintendent onboard vessels carrying out survey activities, as well as submarine cable installations and repairs. He also has in-depth experience in all aspects regarding Onboard Safety and Security, working as head of the Safety Management System (as per ISM code) and as the Company Security Officer (as per ISPS code).


Mr. Merlo has a degree in earth sciences in 1996 (final evaluation 110/110 cum laude) and he has 17 years of experience in a vast array of offshore marine activities.

From 1996 to 1998 he worked as field geologist during Oil&Gas exploration works carried out in Central Italy.

In 1998 he began working in the offshore industry as freelance for the geological/geophysical data interpretation and as surveyor and ROV pilot on board vessels/barges involved in the Oil&Gas construction projects relevant to the pipe lay and platforms installation.

From 2001 to 2008 he was employed full time for ELETTRA TLC (an Italian Company leader in the submarine cable industry) dealing with both the marine operations - being the Offshore Superintendent during survey, pre lay grapnel run, route clearance, installation, repair and post lay inspection and burial - and the ship and technical equipment management - being a technician involved about ships and equipment maintenance and supervision department. During these years he get also an extensive experience and skills as a cable route engineer, having designed numerous submarine cable systems worldwide.

From 2009 he is the H2OFFSHORE's co-owner and the project and operations manager. With this role he has the responsibility to follow all the operational activities of the Company carried out in office or at sea, from the issue of the bid or technical documents to the issue and/or review of final reports. For the significant projects he continue to be present on board the vessels or barges as Client Representative or Offshore Superintendent.
